How to Relax Before Bed

July 29, 2019

With the advent of cellphones and televisions and all things electronic, getting a good night’s rest has become a struggle. The constant connection to the outside world and the bright screen in front of your eyes make it hard to wind down and relax at the end of the day.

Worry not! We have some tips and suggestions on how to relax before bed to wake up refreshed and ready to take on your day.

Keeping a schedule can be helpful – especially for the younger crowd. Kids needs structure and it doesn’t hurt for adults, either!

Take a hot bath or shower. Bonus tip – spray peppermint or lavender essential oil in the shower or bathwater for a more relaxing aromatherapy session.

Stretching before bed can also help. There are a few yoga poses and regular stretching routines that can relax your body and help you doze off.

PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN. And shut your tv off! The light from the screens can be harsh on your eyes and deter you from falling asleep.

Sip some tea (caffeine free of course). This can help lower anxiety and help put you into relaxation mode. There are even some bedtime teas that are blended for this exact purpose.

Download a sleep app. I know it sounds counterintuitive because I recommended putting your phone away, but you’re not really looking at your phone screen when you listen to a podcast or a sleep app. They have many out now that can help you reach your bedtime potential.
