The holidays are upon us, and we all know what that means: finally, it’s time to relax. After all the studying, classes, homework, and exams. You deserve it. Now, make sure to really take the time to not only physically destress but to mentally as well. Whatever way that looks like to you, make sure you take that time for yourself. This could be listening to your favorite artist/band, creating art, playing/watching sports, working out or spending time with those who make you feel comfortable and safe.
Before you get right into it, make a list of all the things that make you feel good and calm. Typically, I write down the top ten things that help me destress. Even if it is just lying-in bed reading a book or writing. It counts! Then, go down the list you created and check off each item as you complete them during your holiday break. The more you do, the better you will feel! As well as the better prepared you are to start your next semester. A fresh start. Literally.
This idea could also be used during the school year as well. Writing down all the things that make you happy and that do not create a stressful environment, helps build a routine for when things get too hard to handle.
