Take Care of Your Skin

December 19, 2022

Taking care of your skin is not only good for your appearance, but since it is the largest organ of the body, it is essential to your health. Good skincare is part of a healthy lifestyle. This includes a good oral care and hair care routine.

Creating good health care routines can help cultivate healthy habits and motivate you more! As it has been said many times, you feel better when you take care of yourself. It helps you get in the best mindset. Everyone’s skin is different, which means they all have different needs. There are some easy and simple ways to help take care of your skin:

  • Protect yourself from the sun. Wear sunscreen, stay in the shade and wear protective clothing.

  • Stop smoking! Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. It does this by narrowing the blood vessels in the outermost layer of the skin and decreases the blood flow, creating a pale color on your skin. It also depletes the skin of the oxygen and nutrients that are crucial to skin health. Over time, it damages the skin strength and the fibers that give elasticity, which are called collagen and elastin.

  • Make sure to treat your skin gently. Limit bath time. This means no long hot showers, because they remove the necessary oils from your skin. Swap out your strong soaps for mild cleansers. Shave carefully, and lotion before shaving. Make sure to shave in the direction the hair grows and not against it. Pat your skin dry and make sure to moisturize daily! (Use moisturizers that have SPF)

  • Eat a healthy diet. This helps make you feel your best. Drink plenty of water everyday! Hydration is key!

Manage your stress. Uncontrolled stress can make your skin sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. When your skin is healthy, you have a healthy state of mind. Make sure to get enough sleep, set reasonable limits, scale back on your to-do list, and make time to do what you enjoy.
