Mountain Meditation

Mountain Meditation is an imagery practice that allows the person to become grounded and access their inner resources. These resources include their inner strength and stability they have when they are faced with stressful or challenging situations, whether it is internal or external. 

How it works:

  • You sit down on either a floor or chair 
  • Follow your breaths for a few moments, then imagine a beautiful and peaceful mountain you know of
  • Think of all the details and unmoving presence that keeps it grounded on the earth
  • Once this is developed, hold this image in your mind
  • Imagine yourself sitting calmly and in stillness, while observing all the different weather patterns, storms, and seasons as they pass you on the mountain
  • Picture all your thoughts, emotions and life challenges passing you by, just like the weather patterns

This is designed to last approximately twenty minutes. It could be less or more, depending on the practitioner’s preference. Overall, this type of meditation can help you apply mindfulness to your daily life. This can bring out positive change in your reactions, emotions, and behaviors. Also, it can lead to a more satisfying and fuller life.
