National Cancer Survivors Day

Today, we celebrate the 32^nd annual cancer survivor’s day!

Cancer is the name given to a collection of related diseases. In all types of cancer, some of the body’s cells begin to divide without stopping and spread into surrounding tissues. About 1/3 of all people in the U.S. will develop cancer during their lifetimes. There are more than 100 types of cancer some of the main ones being; breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma.

Warning signs of cancer include:

• Change in bowel or bladder habits
• A sore that does not heal
• Unusual bleeding or discharge
• Thickening or lumps in breast among other places
• Indigestion or difficulty in swallowing
• Obvious change in a wart or mole
• Nagging cough or hoarseness
