Blue light and the effects it has on our eyes

August 12, 2019

Blue light is found everywhere, from the sun to TV’s, Smartphones, computers etc.

The major concern is the way this light effects our eyes. Blue light is a visible color on the light spectrum scale that produces higher amounts of energy because it is a shorter wavelength. Blue light penetrates directly to the retina and too much exposure can damage the light – sensitive cells in our eyes.

Damaging these cells can cause eyestrain, fatigue, headaches and sleeplessness. Here are a few helpful tips to decrease your blue light exposure: wear blue light filter glasses, blink more often when staring at a digital screen, take frequent breaks when staring at electronic devices, use warmer colors on TVs and monitors to reduce eye strain.

Below are some websites that contain much more details and prevention tips.
