Virtual Racing

February 5, 2018

Virtual races are becoming more and more popular. But is a virtual race? A virtual race is essentially a race done at your own pace by logging in miles using an app or a website. This is great for a few reasons. One being that you can do races from all over the world and two because it allows you to participate even if you can’t run an actual marathon (or other length of race).

Another great reason, especially for those of us in colder weather, is that you don’t have to go outside! You can run a race from the comfort and warmth of your home or gym. And because you run this race where you want, there’s no parking fees or problems, no crowds, no porta potty lines!

Here are some virtual race sites:

Virtual World Racers

Sign up to run around the world with Virtual World Racers! This looks so fun and you get a medal for each country you “run” through. The races run in length from 5K, 10K, half and full marathons.

Virtual Pace Series

These events are for fun and for charity and they give you the option of using your bike! The 5K and 10K races range from holiday themed runs to animal charity runs to medical awareness runs.

Virtual Strides

Virtual Strides encourages their participants to walk, jog, run, swim, bike, skate, row, and ski … you can log miles anyway you choose!
