There are 7 dimensions of wellbeing. Maintaining a balance of these dimensions leads to a fuller, more satisfying life. The dimensions are:

  • Physical – Move More, Eat Better
  • Intellectual – Boost your Brain
  • Environmental – Love the Earth
  • Vocational – Live with Purpose
  • Social – Connect with others
  • Emotional – Practice Gratitude
  • Spiritual health – Nourish your Soul

Physical Wellbeing is the ability to maintain a healthy quality of life. Being able to get the most out of our daily activities without damaging fatigue or stress. This includes getting good night sleep, staying on track with your health care check-ups, staying active, and eating well.

Intellectual wellbeing is the ability to be creative and stimulate your mind. Expanding your knowledge and skills to promote mental growth. Here are some ways to increase your intellectual wellness: Read, play a game, play an instrument, learn a new language, keep a journal or playing games such as crossword puzzles or sudoku.

Environmental wellbeing inspires us to live a lifestyle that is respectful of our surroundings. This dimension encourages us to live in harmony with the Earth by taking action to protect it. It has a direct impact on your state of mind, emotional well-being, and productivity.

Vocational wellbeing consists of an occupation that aligns with our skills and values, challenges us, and gives us a sense of fulfillment. Important components consist of goals and ambition, job satisfaction, and a feeling of meaning and purpose.

Social wellbeing is our ability to interact and form meaningful relationships with others. Social relationships have an impact on our mental health, physical health and mortality risk. These relationships include friendships, intimate relationships, platonic, family, and professional (work) relationships.

Emotional wellbeing is the pleasant associations such as excitement, happiness, love, and acceptance. However, how we handle the unpleasant feelings we experience is the most significant indicator of our emotional well-being. The components of emotional health are also contributors to mental well-being. These are individual factors involved in emotional regulation, such as the ability to cope with stressors as well as communication and social skills needed to maintain connection with others.

Spiritual health integrates all dimensions of health: physical, emotional, mental, and social. Spiritual health creates meaning in life, cultivates altruism and ethics, and is based on individual perceptions convincing us of our ability to survive. One could say spiritual health is a kind of glue that brings all the other pieces of health together.
